Hey mom, yesterday was the 7th of January.
I had an amazing day filled with the spirit. We started the day at home studying and I practiced teaching skills with my companions, I had been in a trio with elder Quimi and my trainee Elder Siqueira. We went to lunch at a house of a Venezuelan family who have fled the political uproar in their country. I have known this family for a while but not had the opportunity to aliment in their home. I practiced my Spanish with them and that can be very difficult when my mind is processing everything in Portuguese.
Afterwards, we went to Jandira. A town bordering ours where the sisters in our district work. We held a district meeting where we conversed about the progress of our areas and our progressing investigators. Elder Quimi lead a training where we helped the others recognize their unique gifts and talents and how these gifts and talents will help us in our mission. He had made a card for each of us with a drawing he felt represented who we are and a scripture. The card also has our baptism date and the date we were designated as missionaries.
After the meeting we went to Jandira's area and we went to a couple of their appointments and found new people to teach. Towards the end of the day we went down a road and the people had set up a volleyball net and were playing volleyball in the road. We asked them if we could play and we played a match against them. We lost in the end but gathered everyone we played against and shared a lesson with them about the gospel of Jesus Christ. At the end of the lesson I and my companion Elder Quimi invited them to come unto Christ and be baptized. 4 of them accepted and the sisters will be helping them prepare for the ordinance.
The spirit was very strong through out the day and I felt happy to be a missionary. To be able to share the light of Christ with others brings me joy. I love you mom. I hope you had an amazing birthday Sunday. I'll be there for the next one!
With love,
Your son
Elder Meyers
